The School Architecture, Technology and Engineering prides itself on providing a welcoming, supportive, and positive working environment. We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer to join our vibrant Civil Engineering team.
Your role will be to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses within Civil Engineering area, and you will contribute to the design and teaching of the material / modules on Civil Engineering in general, and construction materials and / or Geotechnical Engineering in particular, as well as offering final year projects in these areas. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality learning and teaching across all levels of Higher Education within the UK and internationally. You will also be supported to be supported to gain an accredited UK teaching qualification.
All our academic staff act as personal tutors to provide pastoral care to our students. The role requires listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students, appreciate individual students' needs and circumstances, and refer students as appropriate to the specialist services that can provide further help.
In order to be successful in this role, you should have:
- A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject including current. professional/vocational developments and the range of generic skills in general Civil Engineering with one or more of the identified areas of specialism: (i) Material (ii) Geotechnical Engineering, and relevant regulations and code of practice.
- Gained, or working towards, the membership with relevant professional bodies.
- A high-quality research profile (consistent with career stage) and evidence of the potential to develop an externally funded research programme.
As the successful applicant you will become a member of the Advanced Engineering Centre with access to world class laboratories and field equipment within the School.
This is a full-time post (37 hours per week), however we welcome applications from candidates seeking job share.
