Environmental Officer

Salary:  £29,799 to £33,518 per annum

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and highly motivated Environment Officer (Strategy and Logistics) to lead on Sustainable Travel, Waste Management and Biodiversity projects. The University has extremely strong environmental credentials and is currently ranked as the 7th most sustainable university in the UK in the People and Planet University League. 

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will lead on the development and implementation of the University's Travel Plan Strategy, Waste Strategy, and Biodiversity Action Plan, working closely with all other members of the university's award winning Environment Team. 

You should have proven experience in sustainability issues within a multi-campus university, in addition to excellent oral and written communications, strong analytical skills, and experience in project management.  You will be organised and analytical with good problem solving skills, and will possess a good degree in environmental management, environmental science or an equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through experience at a similar level.

In addition you'll have experience in:

  • developing and implementing travel plans and waste management strategies;
  • working within a large organisation with many different stakeholder groups;
  • successfully preparing bids and securing funding; 
  • driving successful organisational culture change.
