Join our team and play an important and active part in developing our Fashion and Textiles subject area, working with students and colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the courses forward in their next iteration. Central to this will be your capacity to introduce critical, historical and contemporary theory in a way that supports students to draw together practical and theory learning. Inspiring students to make productive synergies between their studio work and the theory sessions, enabling practical wisdom, that combines making and thinking to emerge.

You will work with the critical theory team and subject practitioners at undergraduate level across the Fashion, Textiles and 3D Design and Craft Programme on the following courses, BA(Hons) Fashion with Business Studies, BA(Hons) Fashion Communication with Business Studies, BA(Hons) Textiles with Business Studies, BA(Hons) Fashion Accessories with Business Studies and BA(Hons) 3D Design and Craft. However the main subject focus of this role will be the Fashion Accessories with Business Studies and 3D Design and Craft courses 

You should have an established research record that demonstrates a significant contribution to the field of contemporary 3D design and craft and fashion accessories. An academic with the capacity to meaningfully introduce their own research interests into the learning experience and to contribute to the core curriculum themes.  

We are interested in applicants who also have the ability to build a peer learning community which is both supportive and stable and at the same time challenging, vibrant and dynamic. You will have proven organisational skills and be able to design teaching materials, identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement, supervise student projects, and field trips. You will be able to lead tutorials, deliver lectures and conduct seminar groups. The role will also include formative and summative assessment responsibilities 

This post is based at our campus at Grand Parade in the city centre, a hub for the University’s creative courses, ground-breaking exhibitions and international research.

This is a part-time, permanent post.
