Join our team at our vibrant city centre campus and play an important and active part in developing our Visual Communication subject area. You will be working with students and colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the courses forward in their next iteration. Central to this will be your capacity to draw together practical and theory learning to support students to make productive synergies between their studio work and the theory sessions, enabling practical wisdom, that combines making and thinking to emerge. 

You will have the opportunity to work at all levels of study on the following courses, BA(Hons) Graphic Design, BA(Hons) Illustration, MA Graphic Design and MA Sequential Design/Illustration, however the main focus of the posts will be at undergraduate level. 

We are looking for individuals with an established research-led practice that demonstrates a significant contribution to the field of contemporary visual communication. An academic with the capacity to meaningfully introduce their own research interests into the learning experience and to contribute to the core curriculum themes of creativity, wellbeing, identity, global citizenship, sequence, audience and contemporary collaborative practice.   

We are interested in applicants who also have the ability to build a peer learning community which is both supportive and stable and at the same time challenging, vibrant and dynamic. You will have proven organisational skills and be able to design teaching materials, identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement, supervise student projects, and field trips. You will be able to lead tutorials, deliver lectures and conduct seminar groups. The role will also include formative and summative assessment responsibilities and engagement in all aspects of course promotion and admissions.

You will be based at our campus at Grand Parade in the city centre, a hub for the University’s creative courses, ground-breaking exhibitions and international research.

There are 2 posts available both are part-time and are permanent.
