Do you have experience of delivering high quality administration and support? If so then we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking two Research Student Administrators to work in our busy Doctoral College Team, for either 22.0 or 26.0 hours per week on a *fixed term contract. These are important roles that enhance the student experience by providing professional and efficient administration and an enquiry service for postgraduate research applicants, students, supervisors and other key stakeholders, as well as advising on student processes and providing general administrative support.
To be successful, you should have:
- Proven experience in administration
- Strong organisational skills, and flexibility to meet and deal with competing demands
- Good knowledge of databases, word processing and spreadsheet packages
- The ability to communicate information in an understandable way and to maintain effective professional relationships across the University
A familiarity with the higher education sector, particularly in relation to postgraduate research degrees and its aims and objectives, will be an advantage, but by no means essential.
*These posts are fixed term: 22.0 hours per week 27/10/2025; and 26.0 hours per week until 04/11/2025 to cover maternity leave. If invited to attend the interview stage, you will be able to express a preference for which of the roles you would like.
In return, the university offers a wide range of benefits, such as a generous annual leave package, including time off over the Christmas period, and travel loan schemes.
Please see that attached job description and person specification for full details of this role. Informal enquiries can made to the Deputy Head of the Doctoral College, Selina Avis – s.avis@brighton.ac.uk

We embrace equality and diversity in our working, learning, research and teaching environment and are committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive community. We particularly encourage applicants from Minority Ethnic backgrounds because the University is under-represented by Minority Ethnic staff.
