Software Developer (KTP Associate)

We’re looking for an experienced and talented Computer Science graduate developer to join the team at Pragmatic Web Ltd. We’re working in partnership with the University of Brighton on an exciting 3 year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) which addresses high priority issues like privacy and security in next-generation technologies.

If you’d like to work at the cutting edge of WordPress, delivering projects for global brands, we’d LOVE to hear from you. We’re pushing what WordPress can do, with technologies such as (but certainly not limited to) Blockchain, React, Progressive Web Apps, AMP, Gutenberg, Elasticsearch, API integrations and standalone apps based on WordPress.

Interviews for the role will be held in mid January 2019.

Qualifications we require: You will have a minimum of a 2:1 BSc Hons in a Computer Science discipline, with a strong grounding in maths, and theoretical and practical software engineering. An MSc/PhD with relevance to cybersecurity and/or data protection is desirable.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A Computer Science degree with a strong grounding in maths and theoretical and practical software engineering
  • Experience in software systems development and testing with specific experience of programming (PHP, CSS/SASS and Javascript)
  • Knowledge/experience of software and data security/privacy and ideally requirements engineering
  • A creative mindset and can-do attitude
  • Desirable: Knowledge of WordPress
  • Work experience, student placement or degree project work.

Essential skills we require as a minimum:

  • A commercial aptitude and the ability to understand the needs of internal and external customers and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • An ambition and ability to take ownership of a challenging and impactful technical project.
  • Have a methodical and considered approach to project planning and management.
  • Have the aptitude to apply technologies developed through research to a commercial scenario.
