An opportunity has arisen to join our busy Evaluation and Policy Department as one of the team of dynamic data analysts, where you will contribute to the delivery of high level data analysis and evaluation, working independently but closely with the other data analysts, and with key colleagues of all levels across the University.

Your expert knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative analysis and excellent technical and analytical skills will help to deliver the University’s strategic priorities, in particular in relation to the student experience. As such this role has some emphasis on the analysis, interpretation and communication of the results of important institutional surveys. 

You will be educated to degree level with a significant numerical/statistical component, or have relevant equivalent experience. Knowledge and experience of relevant software, data analysis and presentational techniques is essential, as is the ability to produce clear and concise reports and papers. As the role interfaces with a range of stakeholders, strong team-working, communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. 

The University’s Evaluation and Policy Department, working in collaboration with others, provides the information, evidence, insight and evaluation required to support the University Executive Board’s decision making on institution-wide strategy and planning. It is responsible for:

  • Institutional research and priorities for impact evaluation of institutional strategic interventions

  • Institutional surveys and identifying areas for strategic intervention 

  • Data analysis, evaluation and modelling to enable evidence-driven interventions and activities to deliver strategic priorities, in particular in relation to the student experience

  • Insight, advice and analysis to senior management on sector and university policy development and scoping implications for the university 

  • Advice and evidence to enable the university to meet its obligations with respect to key sector bodies and key sector-wide student experience evaluations such as the Teaching Excellence Framework, the NSS and Graduate Outcomes. 

  • A briefing service for the Vice-Chancellor’s Office with respect to external and internal presentations and networks.
