We are pleased to advertise this new senior post to join the team that works to provide policy and data analysis, insight and evaluation to support the University’s decision-making in order to deliver the University’s strategic priorities, in particular in relation to education and the student experience.  

Our Department provides insight and analysis to senior management on sector and university policy development, scoping implications for the university, as well as support to ensure the University meets it obligations with respect to key sector bodies including the Office for Students, and sector-wide student experience evaluations such as the Teaching Excellence Framework, the NSS and Graduate Outcomes Survey.  Working with other senior leaders across the University, we also have responsibility for developing institutional research projects and impact evaluation of strategic interventions, to inform and improve understanding of what works to enhance education and the student experience and our related strategies including for example our new Access and Participation Plan.  

Your post will play a key part in strengthening and enhancing our capacity to ensure delivery of robust institutional research and evaluations in relation to activities and interventions designed to enhance education and the student experience.  You will work closely with the Head of the Department to develop and implement the University’s Evaluation Strategy and associated Evaluation Framework across all areas of the student lifecycle, and will deliver a range of research and evaluation projects. 

To be successful in this post you should have:

  • Experience in developing and carrying out institutional research projects and evaluations
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of research and evaluation methods, particularly in the context of access and participation and learning and teaching in higher education
  • Experience of the development of strategies, working across teams, and influencing colleagues at all levels, including senior managers
  • A Postgraduate qualification, with a significant element of research/evaluation methodologies, or relevant equivalent experience
