This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving University supporting and enhancing its Estate & Facilities Management Team (EFM Team).  As part of the EFM Team you will be supporting a community of over 20,000 students and 2,600 staff based on campuses in Brighton and Eastbourne.

You will be primarily responsible for leading the Security Service, establishing a secure and safe environment for staff, students, visitors and securing the University’s assets.  The Head of Security will lead and manage the in-house Security Team, establishing a professional service that supports the operational needs of the University.  The continued development and engagement of the in-house team will be a key to factor in achieving this.  You will be responsible for developing and implementing, security policies, standard operating procedures, reporting systems, and KPI’s. The post holder will have experience of advising and notifying senior leaders in areas of, assessing and managing risk, emergency response and incident reporting. There will be a requirement to liaise with the local police force and the other local stakeholders to understand concerns and risk in the area.

We are looking for an individual with significant experience of working at a senior management level within a multi-site organisation.  Who has previously undertaken investigations, managed change, and has a strong technical knowledge of security systems and the associated legislation. You must have strong interpersonal and people management skills, and the ability to make autonomous operational decisions.  There will be a requirement to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, the capability of adapting your style to communicate with different audiences will be essential.

As the role requires frequent travel across all University sites a driving licence is necessary together with a DBS check.
