This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of staff dedicated to teach on our nutrition programme, which was established in 2019 and is accredited by the Association for Nutrition.

Your role will see you contribute predominantly to the University of Brighton’s BSc (Hons) Nutrition and its pathways, which will sit within our new School of Sport and Health Sciences. Students on this course experience varied practical and theoretical modes of learning which are reflected in creative and innovative methods of teaching and lecture delivery.

Our programme’s curriculum is focused on aspects of nutritional science, public health, sport and exercise physiology combined with fostering an understanding of the food chain and related social behaviours.  Our teaching draws from a range of subjects aligned to health where we work across the university in partnership with students, academics, researchers, service users and service colleagues to deliver high quality learning and teaching based on contemporary research findings and nutritional practice.  In addition to which, our lecturers provide pastoral care, using listening and interpersonal skills to appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances, and to refer students as appropriate to the specialist services which can provide further help.  In order to be successful in this role, you should bring with you:

  • A good first degree (2:1, 1st or equivalent) and MSc in Nutrition or a closely related subject
  • A Higher Education teaching qualification and/or an HEA Fellowship (or willingness to complete this within the first 12 months in post)
  • Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) status with the Association for Nutrition (AfN).
  • Up-to-date, sound knowledge of current developments in nutritional analysis, food-based interventions and professional standards and practice.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Dan Burdsey, Associate Dean, or Harvey Ells Nutrition Course Leader.

You will be based at our Eastbourne campus site, and travel to other university sites will also be required.  This role is eligible for applications from job sharers.
