Technical Instructor (Sport)

Location:  Eastbourne
Salary:  £26,715 to £30,046 per annum
Contract Length: 12 months

The School of Sport and Service Management is at the forefront of teaching, research and consultancy in a range of discipline areas. Based at the Eastbourne campus, you will act as a Technical Instructor in the School for the sports division.

This is a stimulating and wide-ranging role. Working within a small team you will support academic work (teaching, research and commercial) related to sports science and physical education. You will work in the classes helping students with practical skills and understanding the subject.  You will help the lecturers prepare teaching material.  You will also support students and lecturers in their research projects.  The work will include supporting practical sports sessions, sound/lighting in the dance studio, the strength and conditioning suite, and the sports science laboratories.

In order to be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the study of sport and its practical application in education in a University
  • Practical planning and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A good level of ICT literacy
  • Experience, or the capability to learn quickly, how to operate a range of equipment such as lighting, sound, IT or science equipment
  • A willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

This role is full-time (37 hours per week), on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. Job-sharers are welcome to apply.
