Payroll Information and Systems Officer - 22.5 hours per week

In this interesting and varied post, you will be responsible for providing support in the delivery of effective, timely and proactive use of Payroll systems and information provision to the Payroll Team, Finance Department and wider university. 

The role will encompass working on payroll and pension related projects and supporting the payroll operations team.  This will include suggesting ways to improve or automate processes and implement developments that will add value, save time or increase data quality. Acting as the primary recipient of payroll-related reporting data requests, you will use a number of reporting tools to provide accurate and timely data to internal and external customers such as our pension providers.  You will also support the systems used within the Payroll Team, often liaising with colleagues in Human Resources and a range of stakeholders both internal, external and lead on payroll information and data being accurate and up to date. 

You will also provide support for the Payroll Systems Help Desk and Operations Team, dealing with queries, processing payroll changes on our Payroll/HR system (Resource Link) and using excel to produce reports and analyse data.  It would be beneficial if you were able to evidence experience in the following: Payroll and/or Pensions.  

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to handle confidential data and information in a sensitive and professional way. 
  • Experience of using a wide range of functions in Excel.
  • To work both independently and collaboratively to achieve results.
  • The ability to spot and investigate anomalies in relevant data extracts.
  • Experience of either payroll operations, pensions administration and or data analysis/report writing. 

This is a fixed term, part-time post for 22.5 hours a week, hours of attendance are negotiable and will be discussed at interview.  The post is due to start in November/December 2021.
