Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health Professions (1.0 and 0.5 full-time equivalent)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant team of academics dedicated to the learning and development of students on our health professions programmes.  

Your role will be to provide specific support for final year students as they start their transition into practice and work closely with our practice partners to help enhance students’ mental health and well-being as newly qualified practitioners (NQP).  You will work collaboratively with HEI staff, placement providers, final year students and newly qualified practitioners to provide a package of support that would enhance the mental well-being of newly qualified staff and help embed this across NHS, Social care and Private, Voluntary and Independent organisations.  

As part of your role, you will be a visible presence in placement sites, offering hands on support to NQP’s and practice-based learning teams.  This is a two-year project funded by Health Education England you will be part of a small team focusing on this project.  In order to be successful in this post, you should have:

  • up-to-date, sound knowledge of current clinical, professional and policy developments in health professional courses and practice. 
  • be an NMC or HCPC registered professional.
  • have experience in clinical supervision. 
  • an understanding of principles of learning and teaching in higher education.
  • knowledge of mental health and professional experience and skills in supporting others with mental health needs.

You will ideally have a post graduate qualification / Higher Education teaching qualification and/or an HEA Fellowship, or willingness to undertake this, and / or NQP’s in practice would be desirable

We have a degree of flexibility in the hours and locations, of these posts to cover our Falmer and Eastbourne campus sites, and we welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.

Travel to other university sites and NHS, Social Care and Private, Voluntary and Independent Sites will also be required.  The appointment of lecturer or senior lecturer will be dependent on experience.
