Technician (15 hours a week)

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy, friendly and vibrant team that aims to provide a top-quality technical service to our clinical skills environments.

We teach a broad spectrum of clinical skills within Nursing Sciences, Sport and Physical Activity, Health Wellbeing and Resilience, Health and Rehabilitation and Acute Care subject areas.  Many of these clinical skills are learnt in simulated environments created in our teaching rooms.  

You will be responsible for supporting the technical smooth running of these teaching rooms, ensuring all non-disposable equipment is purchased and is properly maintained, this will also include maintaining teaching room consumable stock across the school sites.

Supporting the academic staff and students, you will contribute significantly to ensuring that the teaching rooms are safe and secure environments conducive to learning, teaching and research.  Working to carefully established timetable, you will assist with the planning and delivery of a technical service for student teaching and assessment of clinical skills.  The role forms part of the technical service delivered within the school and contributes to supporting and developing the strategic work of both the School of Sport and Health Sciences' and the wider University.

  • Have excellent organisational and customer service skills
  • Be able to demonstrate that you can work well as part of a team 
  • Have a good understanding of providing a technical service and a desire to learn
  • Have good communication and planning skills

Whilst most days are spent at one site, you may occasionally be required to travel between sites. It is crucial that the role holder is able to work extensively with display screen equipment, is aware of lifting and handling requirements and has the ability to lift objects and transport them in a safe manner. 

This is a permanent, part-time post for 15 hours a week.
