This is an exciting opportunity to join an in-house nurse-led Occupational Health team.  The University of Brighton is recruiting an experienced and qualified permanent part-time Senior Occupational Health and Wellbeing Adviser to help promote a positive wellbeing culture for staff. 

You will be working alongside the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager and another part-time Senior Occupational Health and Wellbeing Adviser, supporting and advising staff and managers by undertaking a full occupational health remit.  This includes sickness absence management, workplace assessments and developing new initiatives that promote health and wellbeing for staff. 

To be successful in this role you should have significant and varied occupational health experience and be registered as a specialist community public health nurse in occupational health with the NMC.  Excellent communication and influencing skills and a high standard of computer literacy are essential, as is the need to be highly motivated and proactive, with a professional, organised and flexible approach. Some of the key requirements are:

  • Substantial experience as a qualified Occupational Health Adviser, providing specialist advice and dealing with complex casework
  • Experience of making referrals to GP/Medical Specialists, Occupational Health Physicians and counsellors/CBT therapists
  • Ability to develop and deliver training sessions  
  • To have a good understanding of employment, equality, data protection, and also health and safety law in the context of occupational health practice

This position is for 2 days a week, and it is a hybrid role. Inter-site travel will be essential as the university employs 2,300 staff on three campuses in Brighton.
