Fixed Term End Date: 31/08/2022

This is an opportunity for a lecturer (teaching and research focused) in psychology to join a team with an established reputation in social, forensic and applied psychology.

A PhD in Psychology or a Professional Doctorate in Psychology (or near completion) is essential, as well as up-to-date knowledge of psychology. In addition, you will have a solid knowledge of general psychology as a basis for teaching on a variety of core BPS psychology curriculum areas, across our undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes.

You must be eligible for membership of the British Psychological Society.

This is a fixed term until 31st August 2022 to cover a period of research leave and job sharers are welcome to apply. The start date would be as soon as mutually agreeable.

The University offers a wide range of benefits, such as a generous annual leave package and travel loan schemes.

We are committed to diversifying the racial and ethnic profile of our community, and especially welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates. We are seeking colleagues who have an understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and how these principles can be applied in HE settings. We value self-awareness, in terms of understanding candidates’ own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes, as well as a willingness to challenge practices that present barriers to different groups.

In Psychology, we have a sociable and supportive staff group, who meet regularly. We recognise that currently there remains some uncertainty in the sector due to the impact of the pandemic. We are growing our team in response to buoyant student numbers, and whilst the University of Brighton is currently delivering blended online/face-to-face teaching, we are planning for a phased return to on-campus teaching.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Lesley Murray at: l.murray@brighton.ac.uk
