This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving, multi-campus coastal university and support its enterprise IT systems and infrastructure. A key part of your new role is managing and supporting the universities IT infrastructure with an initial focus on migrating the on-premise Exchange environment to Exchange Online.
You will be technically and tactically involved in wide ranging operational and development activities as part of an IT Infrastructure team. Your primary responsibilities will be to contribute to the day-to-day operation and service improvement of core enterprise-level IT services made up of operating system platforms and on-premise and cloud infrastructure and applications. You will also work on IT projects, contributing to or acting as technical lead, in the development of new IT services and their associated infrastructure.
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- A degree in a relevant discipline or significant practical experience in an IT operations and development role.
- Evidence of training in analysis of systems, problem ascertaining and diagnosis.
- In-depth technical management knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online and Microsoft 365.
- Management experience in one or more infrastructure applications e.g. Windows Server management (including patch management), Active Directory, Entra ID, MS Configuration Manager, Citrix, scripting in PowerShell.
- Knowledge of email security services or web services (e.g. IIS) would be an advantage.
This is a full-time (37 hours a week) permanent post based in Brighton. As part of this role, you may need to work flexibly outside of normal working hours as the need arises, to minimise impact of service disruptions. The role allows for hybrid working on campus and at the employee's home. We welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.
