Are you a talented communications professional looking to make a difference in a fast-moving, progressive and supportive environment with opportunities for professional development and growth?
We are looking for a Student Communications & Engagement Officer to join our team to help our students thrive and succeed. You will be passionate about creating inspiring communications across a range of multimedia channels to engage a diverse and dynamic student community. Experience of the higher education sector would be great, but more important is the energy and commitment to bring the university experience to life for our students.
Your role reports to the Student Communication & Engagement Manager and you will plan and create content for a range of channels to engage students. Working collaboratively, you will develop and deliver communications to enable students to participate fully with the university experience.
This role will give you the opportunity to contribute to channel and content development, identify what’s working and what can be improved, and work with stakeholders to shape impactful, effective campaigns and stories. The key responsibilities are:
- Plan and create effective communication campaigns and activities that engage students with the university experience.
- Commission, create, and edit relevant content across a range of channels.
- Collaborate and co-create with students, colleagues, and Brighton Students’ Union to produce communications and engagement activity.
- Gather, analyse, and act on student insight and student voice to inform communication activity.
- Enhance communication channels and content to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
You’re a great writer and content creator, able to flex your style for different audiences and channels. You’ll have extensive hands-on experience of managing communications channels day-to-day and improving them by coming up with new ways for us to engage audiences. Above all, you’re a team player who brings energy, ideas, and integrity. To be successful in this role you should have:
- A passion for creating engaging and impactful content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience of planning and delivering communications.
- An ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
This is a full time (37 hours per week), permanent post and we will consider applications from candidates seeking to job share and eligible for our agile working policy where you can work remotely for a percentage of your week. We also offer a range of benefits including competitive salary and generous pension contributions.
The University is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment for all staff regardless of age, disability, family or caring responsibilities, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief (including non-belief), sex and sexual orientation. We embrace equality and diversity in our working, learning, research and teaching environment and are committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive community. We particularly encourage applicants from Minority Ethnic backgrounds because the University is under-represented by Minority Ethnic staff.
For the vast majority of our roles we operate an agile working system with time split between working on campus and at the employee's home. It is the University's expectation that home working will take place within the UK.
