An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Electrical Engineering (or related subject) graduate to work on an innovative project with Kent based business, The British Hovercraft Company Ltd, and the University of Brighton.  

The project aims to introduce and implement scientifically informed design and manufacturing processes to develop a first-to-market electric hovercraft and transfer and embed advanced mechanical and simulation capabilities to streamline and optimise hovercraft performance for applications in new markets. 

This position is a 3-year fixed term contract as a KTP Associate, to deliver a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project.

About you  

To be successful in this role, you will have  

  • A min 2:1 BEng in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, Design Engineering or another related Engineering degree, together with a higher degree reflecting the need for theoretical knowledge and research enquiry.
  • A strong grounding in theoretical and practical engineering spanning the following:
  • electronic systems design 
  • design for manufacture/manufacturing systems
  • power management and control 
  • systems engineering
  • Knowledge of simulation software and computer aided design. 
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and data analysis.
