Salary:  £26,715 to £30,046 per annum

We are currently seeking a dedicated professional to join our team of Student Support and Guidance Tutors (SSGTs). This role offers you the opportunity of making a genuine and tangible difference to the university and learning experience of our students.

SSGTs enhance student engagement and retention by providing non-judgmental, 1 on 1 help and support on a range of issues. As well as sign posting to a range of centralised services you will be comfortable providing emotional support to students and advising on academic processes. You will be responsible for promoting your service to staff and students, including representing the service during induction week and be a key link between the school and Student Operations and Support. As an SSGT you will be expected to log student enquiries and interactions on the SID online database.

  • Substantial experience of working with post 16 students with complex issues.
  • An ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with students and a range of staff in 1-1 and group situations.
  • An honours degree or a relevant professional qualification or experience (e.g. teaching /counselling).
  • A proven ability to work independently, manage time and prioritise effectively.

As a member of the SSGT team you will be managed by the Student Wellbeing Team, in the Student Operations and Support Department. The successful candidate will work with students on courses currently within the School of Environment and Technology at our Moulsecoomb Campus.
